At the Farewell-Colloquium for Prof. Knud Haakonssen, the famous historian of European natural law of the 17 and 18 century, I am diving into his early work on Adam Smith and others and follow some complications in the history of ideas about progress, relevant to the assessment of the non-western others with their (very) different cultures.
