Dr. Annelieke Damen has been affiliated with the University of Humanistic Studies since 2017. She completed her bachelor's and master's degrees in Humanistic Studies in 2008, and in 2017 she began her doctoral research into the outcomes of chaplaincy care. The doctoral research took place in the United States and the Netherlands, where she collaborated with various researchers in the field of chaplaincy care. After completing a post-doctoral fellowship following her doctoral research, she was appointed as an assistant professor of chaplaincy studies. Her areas of interest are healthcare chaplaincy, ecochaplaincy, and spiritual care. In addition to her work at the university, she has experience as a chaplain in the justice system and in hospitals.
