Siri Driessen is an assistant professor in Historical Memory and Moral Imagination.
My current research focuses on how war and violence affect people and societies. How do collective discourses on war and conflict affect and give shape to memory and imagination? How is historical knowledge produced within specific societal and/or research paradigms and what remains obscured or unspoken of? What is the role and the responsibility of researchers in gaining attention for unheard histories?
As member of the UvH research groups Dialogics of Justice and Citizenship and Humanization, I work on questions like these in various research projects and teaching.
Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the UvH/LUMC project Back with a Mission. Reconsidering Return Trips from a Relational Perspective. This project focused on the entangled experiences of survivors of war and genocide in Bosnia, and Dutchbat veterans.
I obtained my PhD at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (2020), where I also worked as a lecturer in Arts and Culture Studies. I received an rMA in Cultural Analysis (University of Amsterdam), a BA in History (University of Amsterdam) and a BA in Fine Arts (ArtEZ Arnhem).
