Project Details

Description

In recent years much knowledge and expertise has been developed in the guidance of people with a mental impairment (VB) and behaviour that is difficult to understand (MVG). Unfortunately, this knowledge and expertise is not always adequate, which often leaves care professionals frustrated. Also, since the 1990s there has been a development in healthcare in which safety, transparency, professionalization and accountability have become priorities. As a result of this trend, professionals' other, mostly implicit tools (emotions, imagination, intuition, moral knowledge) are increasingly relegated to the background, while in dealing with SRH this very knowledge is of great value. For MVG is seen as the result of an interaction between the person and their environment; someone is not understood sufficiently/too unilaterally. This interaction involves facts, meanings, interests, norms and values play a major role in how behavior is interpreted and subsequently acted upon. In this application, we describe how, with the help of a new and sustainable partnership, we will continue to look for additional ways to organize care in such a way that there is no/nearly noof an interaction resulting in MVG. The essence of this search is to tap into relatively new resources and perspectives for the current care context, particularly aimed at increasing space for the more implicit tools of professionals. To this end, we combine long-term research in 14 cases with a "learning outside ring," culminating in a learning community based on shared knowledge ("Community of Practice").
