Sociale gevolgen van COVID-19 maatregelen voor mensen met een verstandelijke beperking

Project Details

Description

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) have more restricted social networks and experience significantly more loneliness than the general population.
Social contact limiting COVID-19 measures exacerbated their situation and even after measures were lifted, they encountered difficulties in reintegrating
socially. This implies that the effects that they experienced during the measures might still be ongoing. Through this study, we aim to quantify the social
consequences of the measures on individuals with ID and delve into their social networks and experiences concerning these measures. We use repeatedly administered questionnaires (2019-2024) amongst people with ID and their relatives and complementary interviews. The insights gleaned from
this research will inform recommendations for support tailored to this vulnerable group, both presently and in future pandemic scenarios. Our findings will
serve to guide policymakers, care facilities, and all other pertinent stakeholders.
