Description
The last phase of life raises life questions for many patients and their loved ones: how do I cope with suffering? How do I prepare for death? How do I say goodbye to my loved one? Often people find their own way to deal with these life questions, but sometimes there is a need for additional support. There are various ways in which this support can be offered: through welfare or volunteer initiatives, through philosophical organizations such as churches, for example, through extra attention from caregivers already involved, or through specialist support from spiritual caregivers. However, this necessary care for meaning regularly does not yet reach patients and loved ones. Two important reasons for this are, first, that the expertise of caregivers regarding care for meaning is still inadequate so that life questions are not recognized and supported. Second, the supporting initiatives are not aware of each other's existence. On the basis of these two reasons we will get to work in the Haaglanden and Westland-Schieland-Delfland (WSD) regions.
