Abstract

Starting from humanistic management, we argue for the importance of collective wisdom and the leadership necessary to cultivate this within (diverse) teams. We emphasize how team diversity can enhance ethical wisdom through inherently present moral plurality, allowing the team to draw on a diversity of interpretations of what is true, good and beautiful. Morally wise leaders can potentiate the wisdom present in their teams by engaging in hermeneutical ethics. We introduce a comprehensive Ethical Deliberation Matrix to assist leaders in facilitating dialogue and deliberation on complex cases within organizations, thereby fostering more nuanced and careful ethical decision-making as a group process.
