Abstract
Maatschappelijke organisaties, zoals zorg- of onderwijsinstellingen, zijn vergeten dat ze een rol spelen in ons politiek bestel: lokale betrokkenheid van burgers bij de vraag wat 'het goede leven' is. Er is daarom een democratisering van bestuur, toezicht en alledaagse praktijk van zorg vereist. Dit blijkt uit het promotieonderzoek van Henk den Uijl. Dat betekent, bijvoorbeeld, dat het stichtingsmodel, waarin de raad van toezicht zichzelf aanstelt, een groot democratisch tekort in zich draagt. Het zou interessant zijn de vereniging of de coöperatie te herontdekken. Ook betekent het voor professionals in alledaagse zorgpraktijken dat zij meer ruimte nodig hebben om patiënten en verwanten te betrekken bij zorg.
